The device i.e. mobile phone (10) has a touch sensor (12) to detect a contact of a finger of a user and to acquire touch information. A display unit (18) displays a graphic object on a display screen (14), where a processing rule application unit (24) is associated with the graphic object. An activation unit (26) activates the processing rule application unit upon detection of movement of the mobile phone by a motion sensor (16), where the activation unit is connected to the motion sensor and inhibited in the absence of selection of the graphic object. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a portable electronic device.
