PURPOSE: A touch pad malfunction prevention method in an electronic device, and a device thereof are provided to control an active state of a touch pad based on a key input within a threshold time from a key input time, thereby preventing malfunctions. CONSTITUTION: A touch pad(120) senses the touch of a user. A keyboard(110) includes keys. A control unit(100) determines successive key input through the keyboard. The control unit controls an active state of the touch pad corresponding to the determination result. The control unit deactivates the touch pad while the key input is successively generated through the keyboard. The control unit activates the touch pad while the key input is not generated through the keyboard.
