PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display is provided to improve display characteristic by shielding a texture part which is generated in a light alignment mode for forming an alignment layer. CONSTITUTION: A first and second switching devices are formed on a first substrate. A second sustaining electrode(133b) is overlapped with the central part of a first sub pixel electrode(191a). A common electrode is formed on a second substrate. The second sustaining electrode and a second sustaining electrode line(131b) cover a horizontal line which intersects the center of a second sub pixel electrode(191b) and the first sub pixel electrode.
