PURPOSE: An expander switchable air compressor device for a vehicle is provided to improve fuel efficiency and to save the weight due to the removal of an expander by switching and using an existing compressor device in parallel for the expander of an exhaust heat recovery device. CONSTITUTION: An expander switchable air compressor device for a vehicle comprises a piston(14), a cylinder(11), an inlet valve(15), an outlet valve(16), an injection nozzle(22), and a solenoid valve(17,18). The piston is connected to a crank shaft of an engine(27) in order to receive power. The cylinder accommodates the piston. The inlet valve sucks air. The outlet valve discharges compressed air. The injection nozzle is installed in the upper part of the cylinder and injects high pressurized gas and high temperature to the piston. The solenoid valve opens and closes the injection nozzle.
