PURPOSE: A portable terminal and a user interface providing method are provided to display an icon display area for rapidly executing applications at a lower end of a home screen. CONSTITUTION: A display unit(151) includes a touch interface. A control unit(180) controls the display unit to display a fast execution icon group area at a lower end of a home screen. The fast execution icon group area includes a first rapid execution icon group for rapidly executing an application which is frequently executed. The fast execution icon group area includes a hidden group call button which calls a second fast execution icon group.
