METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROCESSING MESSAGE TO ENABLE PACKET SUBSYSTEM HANDOVER BETWEEN WCDMA AND EPC NETWORKS

PURPOSE: A message processing method for supporting packet subsystem handover between a WCDMA(Wideband Code Division Multiple Access Network) and an EPC(Evolved Packet Core) network and an apparatus thereof are provided to support packet subsystem handover between the WCDMA network and the EPC network by allowing MME(Mobility Management Entity) of the EPC network to use a GTPv1(General Packet radio service tunneling Protocol version 1) deformation message. CONSTITUTION: An SGSN(Serving General packet radio service Support Node)(110) receives a message from a source RNC(Radio Network Controller) of a WCDMA network. The message includes a target eNodeB ID(Identification) for handover. The SGSN inserts the target eNodeB ID into a GTPv1 deformation message. The SGSN transmits the GTPv1 deformation message to the target MME of an EPC network. The GTPv1 deformation message includes a target type field and a target ID field.
