PURPOSE: A mobile terminal and an image converting method thereof are provided to output a 3D image to a part of a screen on which the 3D image is displayed by converting the 3D image into an image of another 3D type. CONSTITUTION: A mobile terminal outputs a first image to a display unit(S110). If the touch input of a user is sensed through a sensing unit in a first image play state, a control unit of the mobile terminal designates an object selected by the touch input from the first image(S120,S130). If the touch input for the designated object is sensed, the control unit converts the designated object into a second image of a 3D type different from the first image's(S140).
