PURPOSE: A mode controlling method of a transmission control unit(TCU) of a hybrid vehicle is provided to decide a transmission mode defined from the inside of the transmission control unit by comparing a transmission requesting mode signal from a hybrid control unit(HCU), the lever position recognized from the TCU, and the timer condition. CONSTITUTION: A mode controlling method of a transmission control unit(TCU) of a hybrid vehicle comprises the following steps. A transmission mode is recognized by being corresponded to a lever position signal received from the TCU. A transmission requesting mode signal is received from a hybrid controller, and the correspondence of the recognized transmission mode by the lever position signal and the transmission mode corresponding to the transmission request mode signal is determined. If the result does not match, a current transmission mode of the vehicle is changed to the transmission mode corresponding to the lever position signal after a recognized point of the transmission mode to the set time.
