Disclosed is a protection resource allocation method. A first node and a second node have a first link therebetween; both a protection path of a first service and a protection path of a second service pass through the first link. The method comprises: a first node saving preset protection resources of a first service on a first link and preset protection resources of a second service on the first link; the first node receiving a protection switching request of the first service and occupying the preset protection resources of the first service on the first link; and if the preset protection resources of the second service on the first link and the preset protection resources of the first service on the first link share a common part, the first node reallocating the preset resources of the second service on the first link, and saving the reallocated preset protection resources of the second service on the first link. The first node timely allocates the present resources of the protection path according to the real-time usage of the protection resources in the first link, thereby making full use of the protection resources on the first link.
