<p>PURPOSE: A device for unlocking a touch screen device and a method thereof are provided to combine a plurality of steps as one step, thereby saving time and reducing the number of required inputs. CONSTITUTION: A controller senses a touch input on a touch screen and determines whether the touch input is an unlocking request or related to a specific function of a terminal(302,304,306). When the touch input is the unlocking request for the terminal, the controller unlocks the terminal. When the touch input is related to the specific function of the terminal, the controller loads an application program related to the touch input(310). The touch input is about a gesture corresponding to the touch on the touch screen or a specific movement of the touch on the touch screen.
