The stop-valve (11) has a valve body (13) and a valve seat-like element (12) cooperating with the valve body. The valve body assumes a locking position in which the valve body is seated on the valve seat-like element, or an open position in which the valve body is lifted from the valve seat-like element to allow flow of oil from a front gearbox region (2a) to a rear gearbox region (2b) through an oil passage. The valve body is connected to a float (15) such that the valve body is lifted from the valve seat-like element only when the float is above a specific float level. An independent claim is also included for a gearbox.
