<p>Foamed thermoplastic bodies are produced by a process which avoids gas leaks as well as critical adjustments to the temp. gradient along the extruder axis. The thermoplastic material to which the foaming agent has been added is plasticised below the reaction temp. of the agent and is fed continuously to a transfer cylinder. It is then sprayed from the transfer cylinder into the mould at a temp. above the reaction temp. The increase in temp. is effected in the transfer conduit between the plasticising device and the transfer cylinder.</p> |
