<p>Electrodeposition of at least one metallised layer onto balls of radioactive material to render the surface electrically conductive; the ball so covered is enclosed in a metal shell by the deposition of a number of superimposed layers. A decontamination operation is carried out after each successive coating. The first layer may be applied by spraying. The balls are used as a radioactive train source in medicine, laboratories and in industry. The foregoing process gives a source with good mechanical strength at the same time eliminating the danger of the material constituting it dissolving in water.</p> |
