[Problem] To provide a zoom lens configured from two lens groups that is reduced in size and that satisfactorily corrects different types of aberration. [Solution] A zoom lens comprising, arranged in order from the object side, a first lens group (G1) having a negative refractive power, and a second lens group (G2) having a positive refractive power. Magnification is varied by moving the first lens group (G1) and the second lens group (G2). The first lens group (G1) is configured from, positioned in order from the object side, a first lens (L11) having a negative refractive power, a second lens (L12), a third lens (L13) having a negative refractive power, and a fourth lens (L14) having a positive refractive power. The conditional expressions [0.721/f2|1|<0.61... (2-1)] are satisfied, where fw represents the focal length of the entire system at the wide-angle end, f1 represents the focal length of the first lens group (G1), and f2 represents the focal length of the second lens group (G2).
