摘要 <p>#CMT# #/CMT# The transmission (10) has an input shaft (12) for introducing torque. An output shaft (14) discharges the torque. Two pairs of switchable gears (24, 28) transmit the torque from the input shaft to the output shaft. A planetary transmission (50) couples one of the pairs of gears with the other pair of gears. A planetary wheel (56) couples a sun wheel (52) with a ring gear (54). A planetary carrier (58) carries the planetary wheel. An actuating element (60) couples the sun wheel, the ring gear, the planetary wheel and the carrier of the planetary transmission with each other. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a motor car transmission. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Automatic transmission for converting torque provided by an engine of a motor car. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The actuating element couples the sun wheel, the ring gear, planetary wheel and the planetary carrier of the planetary transmission with each other, thus creating four different gear transmission ratios in a neutral position of the actuating element and other four different gear transmission ratios in a blocking position of the actuating element, and hence realizing eight forward gears using only two pairs of switchable gears, while providing multiple gears at reduced installation space. The transmission ensures operation of a drive motor over a large speed range close to an optimal operating point, thus reducing fuel consumption and energy consumption of the motor. The transmission avoids occurrence of friction-afflicted slippage between the sun wheel, the ring gear, the planetary wheel and the planetary carrier, thus reducing friction losses. The transmission avoids imprecise relative movement of the sun wheel, the ring gear, the planetary wheel and the planetary carrier, thus achieving desired gear transmission ratio independent of a wear condition of the transmission.
