<p>PURPOSE: A device and a method for controlling an air conditioner are provided to perform power-saving operation by supplying electricity information and state information in the operation of the air conditioner and to reduce an electricity charge of the air conditioner by performing the power-saving operation without giving displeasure to a user in a peak time band. CONSTITUTION: A device for controlling an air conditioner comprises a communication unit(110) and a control unit(120). The communication unit is connected to an external device with wire and wireless communication systems, thereby receiving electricity information including electricity charge information according to a time band. The control unit determines a normal time band and a peak time band based on the power information, thereby setting a normal operation mode for the normal time band and a power-saving operation mode for the peak time band. The control unit selectively performs the normal or power-waving operation mode according to the electricity information.
