<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of quantifying physical amounts necessary for estimating coke strength to obtain the physical amount through the image analysis of the cross-section of coke, thereby improving estimate accuracy when the physical amounts are used for estimating the coke strength. <P>SOLUTION: The method of estimating the coke strength includes: analyzing the image of the cross-section of the coke to quantify and obtain an average wall thickness of a coke wall, a low-circularity pore ratio in a low-circularity pore having circularity of a predetermined value or lower, and a crude inert amount in an crude inert texture having an absolute maximum length of a predetermined value or more; and estimating the coke strength by using a three-dimensional average low-circularity pore ratio quantified by three-dimensionally analyzing the image of the cross-section of the coke, as the low-circularity pore ratio, when estimating the coke strength by using these values thus obtained and the volatile content of a raw material coal.
