<p>[Problem] To provide: a magnetic material made from a molded body of soft magnetic alloy particles, the magnetic material having a configuration enabling mechanical strength to be enhanced; and a coil component in which the magnetic material is used. [Solution] A magnetic material and a coil component having the magnetic material as a base, the magnetic material comprising a particle molded body (1) obtained by molding metal particles (11) having an oxide coating (12), the metal particles (11) comprising an Fe-Si-M-based soft magnetic alloy (where M is a metal element that oxidizes more readily than iron), adjacent metal particles (11) in the particle bolded body (1) being bonded to mutually adjacent metal particles (11) by bonding between the respective oxide coatings (12) of the metal particles; at least some of the bonds (22) between the oxide coatings (12) being bonds (22) made of a crystalline oxide, and preferably, at least some of the bonds (22) made of the oxide being continuous lattice bonds.</p> |
