In order to be compatible with an environmentally-conscious design standard, a refrigerant heating method which is highly efficient during a standby period is obtained, and the vibrations and noises of a bearing within a compressor are reduced. Disclosed is an air conditioner comprised of a compressor (1), a motor (8) which drives the compressor (1), an inverter (9) which applies a desired voltage to the motor (8), an inverter control means (11) which controls the inverter (9), and a bus voltage detecting means (10) which detects a bus voltage of the inverter (9). The inverter control means (11) is comprised of a refrigerant dormant state detecting means (12) which detects the dormant state of a refrigerant within the compressor (1), a high-frequency alternating-current voltage generating means (13) which outputs high-frequency alternating-current commands that are out of operation frequencies of the motor (8) during a compression operation to a winding wire of the motor (8) based on the output of the refrigerant dormant state detecting means (12) and the amplitude and phase information, and a PWM signal generating means (15) which generates a PMW signal to generate a high-frequency alternating-current voltage in the inverter (9) based on the output of the high-frequency alternating-current voltage generating means (13) and the output of the bus voltage detecting means (10). |
