Power transmission cable comprises an electrical conductor and an insulation comprising a glass layer made of a wound glass film. Independent claims are also included for: (1) manufacturing the power transmission cable, comprising providing the glass film, wrapping the electrical conductor with the glass film, and connecting the edges of the glass film to form a closed envelope; (2) use of a wrapped glass film as a corrosion-resistant insulator for the power transmission cable; and (3) a high-voltage transmission line, preferably direct current high voltage transmission line comprising the above mentioned cable.
