The present invention pertains to a method for producing a foam molded article, the method comprising: melting and kneading together a resin material containing an aromatic polysulfone having a reduced viscosity of 0.35 to 0.55 dL/g, and a foaming agent comprising a supercritical fluid of a substance that is a gas at room temperature and atmospheric pressure and does not react with the aromatic polysulfone in a supercritical state; and thereafter molding while foaming same by lowering the pressure and/or temperature of the foaming agent until the pressure and/or temperature falls below the critical point of the foaming agent. According to the present invention, a method can be provided for producing a foam molded article in which a resin material having a high working temperature is readily used.
