METHOD OF REMOVING COAL FOR DISPATCH AT STRIP MINES AND CONVEYOR SYSTEM FOR IMPLEMENTING SAME

The invention relates to the mining industry and to techniques for separating and classifying materials according to size. The essence of the invention is that the method for removing coal for dispatch at strip mines involves the automatic classification of the coal into fractions as it is delivered from a hopper to a transport vehicle. The coal is classified into three fractions: sieve residue of up to 15 mm; nuts of up to 35 mm; and coarse coal. The coal is broken and metered out as it passes from the hopper onto a removing conveyor. The conveyor system comprises a receiving hopper with a feeder-breaker, a main chain scraper removing conveyor, and a plurality of belt conveyors arranged perpendicular to the main conveyor. The bed of the top belt of the main removing conveyor has a plurality of longitudinal through openings in up to half of the length of the conveyor, wherein the width of the openings corresponds to the size of one coal fraction, i.e. sieve residue of up to 15 mm; the other half of the bed has openings that correspond in width to the nut fraction (35 mm). The bed of the bottom belt of the main removing conveyor is continuous and has apertures through which the 15 and 35 mm coal fractions can spill into the charging chutes of the belt conveyors.
