PURPOSE: A method for counting the service time of a refrigerator is provided to check the date of installing the refrigerator, thereby preventing a dispute between a consumer and a manufacturer with respect to the expiration of a warranty period in advance. CONSTITUTION: A method for counting the service time of a refrigerator is as follows. Whether power is initially applied to the refrigerator or not is confirmed when the power is applied to the refrigerator(S110). The starting point of reckoning with respect to the service time is determined according to whether the power is initially applied to the refrigerator or not(S130). The service time is counted from the starting point of reckoning, thereby being recorded in a memory unit(S150).
