PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance reliability by correcting a write error due to unstable oscillation of a spin torque oscillator in microwave assisted magnetic recording.

SOLUTION: A magnetic recording and reproducing device has a resistance measurement part which measures the resistance value of a spin torque oscillator, and monitors the resistance value to detect that oscillation has become unstable during recording. When a measured resistance value is out of a predefined normal range, information for which the recording operation is already performed is rewritten.
