<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To relatively simply improve safety for an passenger conveyor at a low cost. <P>SOLUTION: A safety device 10 is provided in a triangle intersection part DS formed between a parapet 6 and an upper building floor UF. A cylindrical displacement part 12 which is provided in front of a protection board 11 is formed so that an end 121 of the displacement part 12 extends toward an outside deck. The lower end 121 of the displacement part is inserted into a detection device 13. When a specific force in a traveling direction is applied to the displacement part 12, a sensor 132 outputs a detection signal.
