<p>A captured image compression and transmission system comprising a transmission-side system that compresses and sends input images and a reception-side system that restores input images on the basis of image data received from the transmission-side system, said captured image compression and transmission system characterized by the transmission-side system comprising: a transmission-side storage unit that stores a plurality of reference images; a transmission-side image selection unit that, in accordance with the degree of priority for information included in imaging information added to the input images, gradually selects reference images corresponding to said information from the transmission-side storage unit, and specifies one reference image; a difference image compression unit that obtains difference data for the reference image specified by the transmission-side image selection unit and the input image, and compresses the difference data; and a transmission unit that sends the compressed difference data to the reception-side system.</p> |
