PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inlet manifold for a waste collection system capable of reducing the possibility to be exposed to a medical waste.

SOLUTION: The manifold comprises: a housing having a void space, wherein the housing is dimensioned to fit in the waste collection unit receiver; at least one fitting attached to the housing that extends away from the housing; a valve unit 248 disposed in the void space of the housing; a through hole consistent with the through hole of the housing; a hub having at least a rib extending outwardly from each face and surrounding the through hole; a valve unit with a valve member pivotally fixed to the hub and positioned to cover the suction port; a head piece disposed to a second surface of the hub of the valve unit; and an outlet opening 170 in the housing that allows fluid from the void space of the housing into the waste collection unit.
