The arrangement (SA) has a step-up converter connected in parallel to a step-down converter, which comprises a first switch element (T1). The step-up converter is provided with a second switch element (T2). A boost converter comprises a third switch element (T3), which is operated as a free wheeling diode (D1) in a disabled state. The boost converter is switchable by the second switch element. The boost converter is changed into the step-down converter when the second switch element is disabled. The second switch element is operated as the free wheeling diode and switched by the third element. The first and second switch elements are designed as power transistors such as gallium nitride FETs. The third switch element is designed as a power transistor or a diode.
