A device comprises an inner member 11 and an outer member 12 having bearings 14 and seals 15 mounted therebetween. The inner member 11 is provided with an annular groove 35 which is adjacent one of the bearings, a radial hole 34 which connects the groove 35 to a keyway 19 formed in said inner member 11, and a longitudinal slot 37 which is circumferentiallyspaced from the radial hole 34 and connects the groove 35 to an enclosure 33 formed between the inner and outer members and the seals 15. Thus the enclosure 33 may be vented to atmosphere to relieve pressure in the bearings. A shaft 17 is received in a bore of the inner member 11 and is fixed in position by a key 20. The bearings 14 are retained axially by means of rings 27. The members 11 and 12 may form part of a one-way sprag clutch assembly, having sprags 13 which are located between a circumferential surface 30 of the inner member 11 and a surface 31 of the outer member 12. |
