A zoom lens having a two-lens group structure, which is compact and exhibits excellent aberration correction. The zoom lens is configured by arranging a first lens group (G1) having a negative refractive power and a second lens group (G2) having a positive refractive power in that order from the object side, and the magnification power is changed by moving the first lens group (G1) and the second lens group (G2). Therein, the first lens group (G1) is configured from a first lens (L11) having a negative refractive power, a second lens (L12), a third lens (L13) having a negative refractive power, and a fourth lens (L14) having a positive refractive power in that order from the object side.
