Diethanolamino-dipiperideno pyrimidopyri - midine prepn from orotic acid

5,4-d pyrimidine of formula: useful as a coronary dilator, is prepd. from orotic acid (2,4-dihydroxy-pyrimidine-6-carboxylic acid) via 2,4,6,8-tetrahydroxypyrimido 5,4-d pyrimidine. The process avoids the use of diethanolamine at the last stage by converting Cl into NH2 and reacting this with ethylene oxide.
