The steam, separated at the top of pipe 42, may be discharged to the atmosphere, or it may be passed through pipe 50 to vessel 51 which contains water, in contact with which the steam is condensed. The hot water produced in vessel 51 may be drawn off as such, or it may be supplied to domestic radiators 55, 56 by pump 59. If necessary, the water in vessel 51 may be heated by pumping it through a heat exchanger 78 in boiler 24. The mouth 53 of pipe 52 is maintained at a predetermined level beneath the water surface by floats 54. Boiler 24 may be heated by an oil-burner, a gas-burner, or an electric coil. The heat source may be controlled by device 28. |
