<p>An object which it is intended to coat, is immersed in a fluidised mixture of a lactam monomer an alkali reactive material and an activator; followed by cooling. The object is heated above the melting temp. of the lactam, which may be pyrrolidone, piperidone, caprolactam, capryl lactam undecanelactam, etc. The alkali reacting material may be an alkali(ne earth) metal or cpd. thereof, or NH3. The activator may be urea, CO2, an isocyanate, acid anhydride etc. Immersion time is 2 to 60 sec. No degradation of the polymer coating occurs and thus there is no formation of corrosive monomer in the coating.</p> |
