1318420 Centrifugal moulding CIBAGEIGY AG 18 Aug 1970 [21 Aug 1969] 39772/70 Heading B5A Apparatus for impregnating a body, e.g. an electrical winding, with a resin composition comprises mould halves 10a, 10b, 9a, 9b equiangularly spaced around the axis of discs 5a, 5b between which they are clamped, the clamped assembly being secured to a driven shaft which rotates the assembly about said disc axis which may be vertical or horizontal. A body to be impregnated is located in each mould and gas burners heat the assembly as it rotates; when the mould cavities have been heated to a temperature sufficient to initiate hardening of the resin composition, the latter is fed through a bore 11 to a chamber 8 and centrifugal forces direct it radially through channels into the moulds. The resin hardens whilst being subjected to pressure e.g. the centrifugal pressure or the pressure of a medium applied through bore 11. The mould halves may be dispensed with and the bodies received in the cavities formed between the discs. |
