In a self-aligning gear unit the trunnions 3, 4 of a pinion shaft 1 are each carried in a bearing 7 transversely movable in a support 8 and supported by a deformable chamber 9 fed with pressure liquid from a common supply circuit 10 including a hand pump 13, accumulator 11 and pressure gauge 14, each support 8 being mounted on a tiltable block incorporating a pivot pin 18 parallel to shaft 1 and a second, independent, pressure chamber 19 between the members of the block. |
