1,237,247. Plastics laminates. SYNTRESS. 26 June, 1968 [27 June, 1967], No. 30388/68. Heading B5N. [Also in Division E1] A strip suitable for securing to heated bituminous surfaces such as bituminous roads comprises a hard wear-taking layer of P.V.C. or other thermoplastic material, a backing sublayer of canvas or of a porous thermoplastic material which includes a polymerization accelerator, and, optionally, an intermediate layer of a plasticized thermoplastic. Reference is also made to including a low-melting point thermoplastic in the sub-layer, e.g. a material based on coumarones, vinyl polymers, colophony, synthetic rubbers, or polyolefines. The wear layer may include pigments, glass fibres (to confer anti-skid properties) or a reflecting material, and may be treated with U.V. radiation. A canvas sub-layer can be adhesive-impregnated.
|
