Embodiments comprise a circuit 100 and a method for a circuit 100 for mixing an electrical input signal 22 with an optical input signal 24 to obtain an electrical output signal 26. The circuit 100 comprises a phototransistor 10 with an input 32 for the electrical input signal 22, an input 34 for the optical input signal 24, and an output 36 for the electrical output signal 26. The circuit 100 is further adapted to operate the phototransistor 10 in an overdrive state such that the output electrical signal 26 comprises a clipped product signal of the electrical input signal 22 and the optical input signal 24.
