1,241,257. Induction heating apparatus. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 19 May, 1969 [3 June, 1968], No. 25363/69. Heading H5H. [Also in Division B3] An electrically conductive heating ring 13a is mounted in a hollow cylinder 16 in contact with the inside thereof to form an induction heater roll. A number of concentric rings are so mounted to provide predetermined heating profiles. Each ring is made of copper, brass or, preferably, chrome copper and a join giving electrical continuity throughout the circumference of the ring is achieved by coating the ends of the ring before closure with a precious metal, e.g. silver, gold or platinum. The effect of the heat when in use bonds the ends of the ring together. |
