A process for the preparation of a pharmaceutically effective extract from the cyanobacterium Arthrospira spec. having the following steps: extrusion of a powder containing Arthrospira spec. with the addition of water; extraction of the extrudate with an organic solvent; and provision of the extract as a pharmaceutically effective composition.
