Adsorbent particles are suspended in soln. of 0.03-25 wt.% non-curable synthetic resin, which can swell but not dissolve in water, and, after drying, forms dry residue permeable to water and aqs. solns. Suspension is then dried at 15-75 degrees C. and crushed, then granules are classified. Treatment improves hydromechanical properties of adsorbents, e.g., NH4 phosphomolybdates (VI), Cu cyanoferrate, active C, NH4 tungstate-phosphate and bentonite. Operating costs are low and raw material (e.g. polyvinyl acetate, polyvinylethanol, polyethacrylate) is not costly. Product can be used in ion exchange columns, e.g. in chemical industry, water works, nuclear power stations and sanitary affairs. |
