PURPOSE: A portable terminal and a control method thereof are provided to obtain an HDR(High Dynamic Range) image by using a dual camera. CONSTITUTION: A portable terminal obtains a first image through a first camera(S110_a). The portable terminal obtains a second image through a second camera(S110_b). When a camera photographing mode is an HDR mode, a control unit of the portable terminal generates a preview image of the first and the second image. The control unit detects an object, in which an HDR image process is required, through the preview image(S130). The control unit displays an indicator for an HDR object(S140).
