<p>3-Phenyl-5-ethoxycarbonyl-2-oxazolidinones-antiarrhythmics. Oxazolidinone derivs have formula (I) where R1 and R2=1-4C aliphatic grps. or together with the C atom to which they are attached form a 5-8C cycloalkyl gp. The cpds. are prepd. from a ketone R1-CO-R2 by reaction with ethyl chloroacetate to give an alpha-carbethoxy epoxide followed by treatment with aniline and cyclisation with phosgene. In example acetaone and ethyl chloracetate were reacted together in the presence of K, tert, butoxide, the product treated with excess aniline then with phosgene to give (I) R1=R2=CH3, m.pt. 85 degrees C.</p> |
