PURPOSE: An electrophoretic display device and a method for driving the same are provided to improve response speed and contrast ratio by using an electrophoretic layer having single polarization. CONSTITUTION: A first and a second substrate(110,140) include sub pixel areas. Pixel electrodes(130) are formed on the first substrate which corresponds to the sub pixel areas. A common electrode(142) is formed in the lower part of the second substrate. An electrophoretic layer is arranged between the common electrode and the pixel electrodes. The electrophoretic layer includes electrophoretic particles(152) having single polarization. |
