PURPOSE: A space scalable encoding and decoding device of a holographic light source and a method thereof are provided to offer an adaptive holographic image by receiving a part of the holographic light source according to the bandwidth of a network and the calculation capability of a reception end. CONSTITUTION: A light source division unit(31) divides a holographic light source into a plurality of blocks. The light source division unit divides pixels from each block. The light source division unit executes the down-sampling process of the divided pixel. The down-sampled light source is composed of one or more pixels of all blocks. An image encoder(32) generates bit streams by encoding the divided light sources.
