<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery having high safety and high capacity. <P>SOLUTION: A positive electrode for the lithium secondary battery has a positive current collector, a first positive electrode active material layer formed on the positive current collector, and a second positive electrode active material layer formed on the first positive electrode active material layer, the first positive electrode active material layer contains a lithium composite oxide having layered crystal structure, the second positive electrode active material layer contains a lithium composite oxide having spinel structure or olivine structure, the ratio by weight of the lithium composite oxide having the layered crystal structure and the lithium composite oxide having the spinel structure or the olivine structure is 50:50 to 85:15, the interface between the first positive electrode active material layer and the second positive electrode active material layer has a recessed and projecting surface in the thickness direction of the first positive electrode active material layer and the second positive electrode active material layer, the maximum height difference in the thickness direction of the recessed and projecting surface is 12 μm or more, and the second positive electrode active material layer covers essentially the whole surface of the first positive electrode active material layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
