[Also in Division H1] A reinforced palladium-silver alloy membrane is produced by coating a nickel grid-like support with a thin layer of gold, then contacting the nickel support with a palladium-silver alloy membrane under pressure between graphite blocks in a helium atmosphere at a temperature sufficient to bond the membrane to the support. The nickel support may be a screen of open area 60-90%; the gold may be applied by electroplating and be 0À0001 to 0À015 inches thick; the Ag/Pd membrane may contain 5-40% Ag. |
