<p>Textiles of acrylonitrile polymers or copolymers are dyed or printed with basic anthraquinone dyes of formula (I):- (where R is hydroxyl or -NH-R5, R1 non-watersolubilizing substituent, R2 and R3, opt. subst. hydrocarbon, R4=H or opt. subst. alkyl or phenyl, Y is -CH(R6)-CH2-, or divalent, saturated or partially saturated, opt. subst. ring system, X is direct bond or divalent bridge, R5 is H or opt. subst. hydrocarbon, R6 opt. subst. hydrocarbon and A- is anion, the ring B may be further subst. and R2 and R3 or R2, R3 and R4 together with the N+ atom may form a ring. Dyes may be used to dye or print synthetic polyamides or polyesters which are modified by acid groups. 43.7 parts 1-amino-2-bromo-4-(2'-beta-chloroethoxy-1'-methyl)-ethyl-aminoant- hraquinone are dissolved in 120 parts pyridine to precipitate pyridinium dye which dyes polyacrylonitrile fibres a brilliant reddish blue.</p> |
