PURPOSE: A magnetic resonance imaging system and a controlling method thereof are provided to accurately calculate the effect of a specific absorption rate to a patient by securing a body profile of the patient in a laying down state. CONSTITUTION: A profile securing unit(320) secures a body profile of a patient. A table device(30) transfers the patient to a certain position of a magnet room of a magnetic resonance imaging system. The table device comprises a patient supporting unit(310), a radio frequency coil connection unit(330), and a communication unit(340). A magnetic resonance imaging device secures a magnet resonance image of the patient using a magnet field of the radio frequency coil.
