PURPOSE: An infrared remote controller and a receiving device thereof are provided to enable a user to freely move a pointer located on a screen. CONSTITUTION: First and second light receiving units(21,22) sense an infrared ray of a remote controller(10). A first amplification unit(23) amplifies a detecting signal sensed by the first light receiving unit. A data identifying unit(28) identifies a data pattern transmitted from the remote controller. A location determination unit(29) determines a direction facing to the second light receiving unit by using a detecting value generated in a level generation unit(24).
