<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique that reduces a viewer's load caused by viewing a stereoscopic image. <P>SOLUTION: A viewpoint setting unit 20 sets a virtual viewpoint at which a subject in a stereoscopic video image is observed from a different viewpoint when the stereoscopic video image, which is obtained by observation from a certain viewpoint, and which includes left eye and right eye images having a predetermined parallax distribution. A parallax image generating unit 40 generates left-eye and right-eye parallax images that give a desire parallax distribution in the case of observation from the viewpoint set by the viewpoint setting unit 20 by shifting at least one of image segmentation positions of both parallax images. When the shift amount of shifting the image segmentation position is changed by changing the position of the virtual viewpoint, the viewpoint image generating unit 20 generates a parallax image while gradually changing the shift amount from the shift amount, which is before the change, to the shift amount, which is after the change. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
